I just recently finished listening to a book which, for salespeople, might be a necessary read. The thing is though that my teenager can get some good information out of it as well. The book is called The Like Switch by Jack Schafer and Marvin Karlins. Dr. Schafer is an ex-FBI Agent and it was his job to convince informants to come forward or people from other countries to give up secrets that might harm their government or those in power.

Along the way, he discusses a lot of nonverbal communication tactics and methods we can all use to help people feel more at ease with us in business, social situations, or even espionage. At ten years old some of the information is a little dated, but the principles are sound. It’s an easy read and a helpful one to look at yourself in the mirror a little differently.
